Can anyone learn to read tarot cards?
'Can anyone learn to read tarot cards?' It's a question I get asked and the answer is 'yes!' Because you don't need a special ability for it, anyone with a little common sense can learn to lay and read the tarot cards.
What are you saying, you don't need a special gift to read the cards? That's right. The tarot is based on psychology and is interpreted using one's own (human) intuition. The answers you get through the tarot cards come from the own subconscious, so there is no psychic ability involved.
Because the images on the cards give the card reader a certain feeling regarding the question being asked, you could even read tarot cards without learning their meanings.
But since the very basic meanings are a fine guide to give one's own intuition an extra boost and make a flowing story of what can be read in the cards, it is still nice for many people to learn their meanings.
Learning to read tarot cards at home
Learning to read the tarot cards is perfectly possible at home. A useful tool is of course a tarot card deck and a teaching booklet. I always advise beginners to start with the Rider Waite Tarot. I have used it myself as a 15-year-old girl with these cards and still enjoy it now, thirty-five years later. The way I learned it back then is clearly described from A to Z in my book 'The Tarot in Brief' which is suitable for everyone from about 13 years old. People with learning difficulties or dyslexia can also do well with this booklet.
