The role of music in losing weight. Tip of the week 22

The role of music in losing weight is bigger than you think. That listening to -and singing along with- your favourite music makes you happy is common knowledge. But how does listening to music affect our appetite?
- Many people get a good feeling from food, but so does music! When you get uncontrollable cravings between meals, put on your favourite music and sing and dance along. You will notice that your cravings disappear.
- Listening to music while doing housework or exercising gives you extra energy, making you subconsciously move even more. However, be careful with listening to music while cycling; this might make it difficult to hear traffic behind you!
- Turn on the radio right after waking up and you will be in a good mood immediately. Listening to your favourite music makes active and and good mood gives less risk of stress-eating!
- Create a dedicated exercise playlist on Spotify and... listen to it even when you are NOT exercising! If you regularly listen to your sports playlist at home (e.g. in the shower or while doing housework) your brain will make the link with sweating in the gym, which will automatically make you want to work out more often and more often.
